She was predeceased by her husband Vern in 2012 sisters Helen Stanland and Shirley Cossitt, brother Bruce Linstead.
Dorie was born in Gormley, Ontario on July 6, 1934. She was the third of five children born to Delbert and Winnifred Linstead. She grew up on a farm, frightened by the animals she enjoyed spending her time reading while perched up in her favorite tree. Dorie started working at a young age and delighted in spending her money on shoes and clothing. She met Vern and the two eloped. They started their family together; Dorie loved her babies and made them her priority. Many fond memories were made on family vacations together. Both Dorie and Vern loved music and enjoyed dancing together as well as with their children.
In 1975 the family relocated from Ontario to Lethbridge after most of the children were raised, where they pursued various business ventures. Dorie was a stay at home mom until most of the children were raised. She then took a job at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital. Dorie, Vern and Jon moved back to Ontario living in Etobicoke. They later returned to Alberta, choosing to live in Taber to allow them to be closer to their children and grandchildren. While in Taber, Dorie worked at the Taber Denture Clinic, the Health Connection and Safeway. Finally Vern and Dorie settled in Lethbridge where they spent the remainder of their time together. Dorie loved quilting, journaling, singing, reading, walking and watching musicals. She was passionate about genealogy and loved searching through records to learn about her family history. Dorie had a love for all things British and you could always count on her if you needed/wanted a mint. She was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan. Dorie enjoyed travelling and went to many countries including the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal and Morocco. She always supported her grandchildren, enjoyed spending time with them and could often be heard talking about their talents and accomplishments.
