Marge Dick

1943 - 2016

On the morning of Sunday, January 31, 2016, Margery Joyce Dick passed away peacefully at the Linden View Care Centre in Taber at the age of 72 years, while being attended to by her husband Robert "Bob" and familiar staff members.

 The Funeral Service was held at Parkview United Church, 712 - 3 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. A private burial took place at the Vauxhall Cemetery. 

 Left to Mourn are her beloved husband of forty seven years Robert "Bob" Dick; children Julie (Sheldon) Harrish and Jeff Dick; sister Shirley (John) Arbithnott; sister-in-law Barbra Dick; brother-in-law Bob Frederick; nieces Melissa (Ken) Taylor, Christine Frederick (Paul Faires), Laura Frederick-Knowlton (Jeff Knowlton) and Cheryl (Scott) Dakiniewich; nephews David (Lara) Dick, Brian (Nicole) Dick and Jaime (Erin) Frederick.  

 Marge was predeceased by her son Anthony (Tony); parents Helen and Bruce Rowbotham; sister Joan Frederick; in-laws Helen and Bill Dick, brother-in-law Alan Dick and sister-in-law Margret Peters.  

 Born in New Westminister, British Columbia on May 14, 1943, Marge Rowbotham moved to Calgary with her family in 1949. The middle of three girls, she was very close with her two sisters Joan and Shirley. The three of them had many great childhood adventures in the Calgary community of Hillhurst where they grew up. After graduating from Queen Elizabeth High School, she continued her education at the University of Calgary to go onto become a teacher. Marge taught at Sunnyside School for five years in Calgary while living with her younger sister Shirley in their infamous memorial drive apartment. 

 Marge married Bob in 1968 and moved to Taber where they both taught at WR Meyers before moving to Vauxhall in 1971 to start a family. Marge was soft spoken, kind and compassionate, she was very devoted to her children and spent the majority of her life in Vauxhall raising her family. She loved animals dearly (especially cats) and often let her children adopt a few too many strays! Marge loved spending time in her garden, tending to her flowers and had a rose garden second to none. She would spend hours pruning and trimming the rose bushes to make sure they were always perfect. Marge was known around the neighborhood for her delicious baking and culinary skills, often having a few extra children at the dinner table. She made sure everyone felt welcome and that everyone was well fed. Marge was deeply loved by her family, her friends and all who knew her.
