He was predeceased by his father Tom Baceda; grandparents Ben and Francis Baceda and Knut Kaldal; uncles Will Siegl and Bud Oler.
Darcy was born in Taber on December 20, 1960. He lived in the Taber area all of his life until the time of his passing. He went to work on the oil rigs at the age of seventeen and that was when he found his passion and career in life. He continued to work on the rigs for the next twenty-nine years of his life. Darcy loved his job and any opportunity he had to talk about the rigs with anyone, he was always proud to tell everyone how he was a “Rig Pig”. He loved many things in life, including the outdoors, rodeo, fishing and sports. He enjoyed being able to go anywhere in town and run into some of his buddies to watch a game, especially hockey, baseball and his favorite of all time, football. Darcy was a very generous and caring person. Anyone that knew him knows that he would have given the shirt off his back if they needed it, unless you bet against him in football, chances are he’d take yours. Darcy will be sadly missed by all his family, his many friends he worked with and every person that was lucky enough to cross paths with “Torpedo” from Precision Drilling Rig #381.
