LaRue Harris
1928 - 2015
LaRue Harris (nee Burbank), beloved wife of the late Howard Harris, passed away in Taber on Friday, September 25, 2015 at the age of 86 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family in the Relief Society room at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, October 1, 2015 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. and also at the church prior to the funeral service on Friday, October 2, 2015 between 1:00 P.M. and 1:40 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
LaRue is survived by her children Robert (Judy) Harris of Taber, Melissa (Jon) Dudley of Magrath, Heather Lobban of Magrath and Todd Harris of Oshawa, Ontario; son-in-law Gordon Pender of Lethbridge, sixteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Barbara Kenney of Magrath, Pauline Laurie of Edmonton, Bernard (Carol) Burbank of Calgary and sister-in-law Judy Burbank of Vauxhall.
She was predeceased by her husband Howard Harris; son Melvin Jay Harris; daughter Dana LaRue Pender; parents Frank and Dean Burbank; sister Geneil Eldridge; brothers Darrel Burbank, Larry Burbank and Blaine Burbank; brothers-in-law Perry Kenney, Don Eldridge, Danny Laurie, Bill Westhora and William “Babe” Ackerman; sisters-in-law Lois Westhora, Loreen Ackerman and Marcella Burbank.
LaRue married her sweetheart Howard Harris on June 30, 1948 in the Cardston Temple. They raised their families in Taber. LaRue and Howard moved to Victoria for three years and upon returning to Taber, LaRue worked at the Taber LDS Stake Centre until their retirement. LaRue loved her family, every child and grandchild were important and special to her. She especially loved the little grandchildren coming to visit her in her last years. LaRue was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ, and enjoyed being of service to others in the church and community. The highlight for her retirement years was serving in the temple with her husband Howard.
She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.
