Albert Gross

1930 - 2015

Albert Gross, beloved husband of Lorraine Gross of Taber, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at his home on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the age of 85 years.

Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 7:00 P.M.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. A private burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Albert is survived by Lorraine, his wife of fifty nine years; children Brenda (Gary) Corns of Grassy Lake, Fred (Jodie) Gross of Taber, Tim (Bev) Gross of Stirling and Sherry Gross of Lethbridge; grandchildren Brodie (Kerry) Gross, Colton Gross (special friend Jenny Waugh), Melissa Corns, Whitney Corns, Sydney Lu Gross and Kaden Gross; great granddaughter Kinley Gross and sister-in-law Estelle Gross.

He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Stephina Gross, brothers Edward and Michael Gross, sisters Agnes and Evelyn Gross and sister-in-law Delphyne Gross.

Albert grew up on the family farm where he worked both on the farm as well as at the coal strip mine south of Grassy Lake. After his career in farming, he and Lorraine moved to Taber in 1976 where he began his construction company ‘Albert Gross Construction Ltd.’. This was the path that he followed for the next five years. Following these ventures he explored many other avenues ranging from oil filter cleaning to metal recycling. He was never a man that could sit idly for too long. He enjoyed spending his time building, welding and wood working. Albert was also a connoisseur of a variety of shopping adventures, most specifically garage sales, the second hand store and the dump. We are all benefactors of many of his treasure finds and projects. Albert loved hunting, construction and hobby work. His skilled hands were constantly busy re-furbishing and re-finishing many of his treasure finds so that his grandchildren were never without bikes, scooters, fishing rods, play equipment, strollers, wagons and so much more.
