Wendel Drach

1931 - 2015

Wendel Drach, passed away in Taber on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the age of 83 years.

The Funeral Service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Wendel is survived by his wife Katie Drach and their two children John (Sandra) Drach of Kamloops, British Columbia and family Amber (Stefan) Bekolay, Kyley, Lyndon, Catherine, Francis, John-Paul, Dominic and James and Carol (Pete) Thiessen of Taber and family Eric (Amy), Corey and Zach; sister-in-law Verna Drach of Taber and her family.

He was predeceased by his parents Karl and Katharina Drach and his brother Frank Drach.

Wendel was born in Yugoslavia October 1, 1931. In 1944, the Drach family relocated to Germany before immigrating to Canada in 1953, settling in Coalhurst before moving to Taber. He spent two seasons in Ontario working in the tabacco fields and in February 1959 returned to Germany to marry Katie. Later that year, they returned to Taber and Wendel made his career with Alberta Sugar.
