Edna was born on April 20, 1920, the second of three girls born to Albert Jubb and Doris (nee Proberts) Jubb-Williams on the family farm in Grassy Lake. She was raised in Grassy Lake and in Barnwell where she attended the Barnwell School. Edna was married to Frank Martens in Taber on February 11, 1961. She enjoyed working as a bookkeeper for Campbell Electric in Taber before devoting her time to her family as a stay at home wife and mother. Much of her spare time was consumed with baking, cooking and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens that she grew every year until the age of eighty five, when she found it too tedious to get around in the yard. Edna also enjoyed bowling in the ladies Tuesday morning league until she was eighty five. She made many friends bowling, friendships she kept close until her passing. In fact, “the bowling girls” (as she referred to them), enjoyed lunch with her at the Clearview Lodge the day of her ninety-fifth birthday this past April. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch #20, Ladies Auxiliary and she enjoyed many years of service with her comrades. Edna loved camping, playing cards (smear), watching curling and the Toronto Blue Jays. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren Erin, Shelby, Janine and Landon that lived close and spent a lot of time at her house. Edna and her family were greatful for the friendships of Ruth Hill, Mary Krizan and Faye Christensen and for all their support over the past years.
