LORENE BULLOCK
1954 - 2007
Lorene Bullock, beloved wife of Drew Bullock, passed away after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer in Taber on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the age of 52 years.
Besides her loving husband Drew, she is survived by her parents Gordon and Louise Bowden of Lethbridge; children Matthew (Brookee) Bullock of Calgary, Trevor Bullock of Taber, Julie (Casey) Smith of Calgary, Amy (Michael) Balderson of Lethbridge and Brent Bullock of Taber and four grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Randy (Shirley) Bowden of Lethbridge, Scott (Anita) Bowden of Picture Butte and Marni (Dave) Parry of Seattle, Washington; sister-in-law Lori (Clark) Mendenhall of Lethbridge.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Linden and Beatrice Nilsson and Clarence Bowden.
Lorene was born in Raymond, Alberta on December 22, 1954. She was raised in Lethbridge and had many fond memories of growing up there. She attended L.C.I. and following graduation attended two years at Brigham Young University. She returned to Canada and finished her degree at the University of Lethbridge obtaining her Bachelor of Education. While attending the U of L she met and fell in love with her future husband Drew Bullock. They were married in the Cardston, Alberta Temple on August 21, 1976. Lorene fulfilled her lifelong dream of teaching elementary before the birth of her children. She then devoted the remainder of her life to raising her family, surviving long enough to see her youngest graduate from high school. In 1982 Lorene moved to Taber and was active in the community, filling such roles as cub leader, figure skating club president, minor soccer coach and fundraiser for diabetes. Lorene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she could always be found providing service, even as her health failed. Some of Lorene’s greatest enjoyments were visiting with friends, camping, music, taking holidays, with her greatest enjoyment being her family. Lorene has too many positive characteristics to list. However, some of her foremost attributes include her kindness, compassion, her enduring sense of optimism, never failing sense of humour and her unwavering devotion to her faith and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, October 19, 2007 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. and at the church prior to the Funeral Service on Saturday, October 20, 2007 between 10:00 A.M. and 10:45 A.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop Michael Saunders conducting. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
