ETHEL CANNADY
1920 - 2014
Ethel Mary Cannady (nee Urban), beloved wife of the late Myron Cannady, passed away peacefully in Lethbridge on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the age of 93 years.
A private burial service was held at the Taber Memorial Garden.
She is survived by seven children Myron (Kathy) Cannady of Calgary, Jim Cannady of Taber, Betty Morrison of Lethbridge, Gordy (Brenda) Cannady of Calgary, Joan (Keith) Langille of Lethbridge, June (Harry) Wong of Edmonton, Bob (Carol Ann) Cannady of Morinville; seventeen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and by her extended family.
She was predeceased by her husband Myron in 1997, son-in-law Bob Morrison in 2010 and infant grandson Kipp Cannady in 1981.
Ethel was born in Taber on October 7, 1920 and was the last surviving child of the Frank and Elizabeth Urban family of Taber. She married Myron Cannady on October 11, 1941. In addition to raising seven children, Ethel followed her dream of someday having a giftware or flower shop business. She successfully owned and operated Cannady’s Gift in Taber until 1987 when she retired.
Ethel was a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose and an active member of the Taber Choralaires for a number of years. Taber remained her home until 2013, at which time she moved into St. Therese Villa in Lethbridge.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Ethel’s name may be made directly to charitable cause of one’s personal choosing.
Ethel's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of the LPN staff at St. Therese and in particular to the group of special caregivers in Wing 1 east for giving mom a truly loving home and providing her with care that was compassionate and comforting during her time there.
