VINCE MEIER

1933 - 2014

Vincent Meier, beloved husband of Jan Meier, passed away in Taber on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the age of 80 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Royal Canadian Legion, 217 - 5 Street North, Vauxhall on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 2:00 P.M.
Vince is survived by his wife of fifty four years, Jan and their children Mark (Tamara) Meier of Taber and their family Matthew and Kaylee (and her son Mason); Joann (Dave) Enns of Vauxhall and their family Regan, Logan, Kendall and Marshal; Wade (Leah) Meier of Taber and their children Nicki, Ryan and Sydney. He is also survived by his sisters Carol Schmidt of Calgary and Eva (Dave) Kress of Taber; brother Jack (Vivian) Meier of Okotoks; his sisters-in-law Patti Meier, Renata Mack, Orma (Harold) Assman, Elaine (Bruce) Sobkow; brothers-in-law Ardo (Marion) Haas, Terry (Muriel) Haas and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Anton and Mary Meier, brother Tony Meier, sister Helen Meier, brothers-in-law Ron Schmidt, Howard Mack, Mervin Haas and sister-in-law Beverly Haas.
Vince and his family spent their early years in southern Saskatchewan where he worked in the potash mines for twelve years. In 1975, he moved his family to southern Alberta where he began his career as a Battery Operator. Vince retired in 1998 and spent his time woodworking and enjoying his grandchildren, both of which he took great pride in.
Vince will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His wisdom and his love for life will live on in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
