He is also survived by his nieces Katelyn Bennen, Jenna Bennen and Emmalee DeWeerd; his Oma Cornelia Bos and by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his grandparents Jacob and Cornelia bij de Vaate and Pieter Bos.
Joel was born on July 23, 1985 in Taber, the third child born to Casey and Jane. He attended Taber Christian School and Immanuel Christian High School. Following graduation from Redeemer University with a degree in business, Joel joined the family farm where he worked with his dad and his brother.
Growing up, Joel enjoyed a variety of sports and continued to play, coach and watch as an adult. Spending time with friends and family, camping, participating in 4-H and church activities were very important to him. Traveling and exploring God’s world was close to Joel’s heart. From backpacking to volunteering, Joel’s feet touched many continents and he made many friends along the way. He was always ready to enjoy time spent with friends and his door was open to anyone. We will miss his great sense of humour, his zest for life and we will hold him close in our hearts forever.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Joel’s name may be made directly to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, Box 317, Vauxhall, Alberta T0K 2K0 (please make cheques payable to the Vauxhall and District Growing Project).
