She was predeceased by her husband Douglas Allen Hird in May 2002.
Lydia was passionate about music from a young age and participated in accordion concerts in Alberta and British Columbia. She graduated high school early at seventeen years old and had already been holding down a part-time secretarial position by the time she had graduated from Lethbridge College at the age of nineteen. By her mid twenties, Lydia and Doug had found each other and got married in October 1992. Her amazing spirit and love of life was abundantly evident by the strength and courage she exhibited through out her long and arduous battle with myasthenia gravis and cancer. Lydia remained positive and cheerful with a witty sense of humour and she always had a smile for those around her.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Lydia’s name may be made directly to the Myasthenia Gravis Association of British Columbia, 2805 Kingsway, Vancouver, British Columbia V5R 5H9 (www.myastheniagravis.ca).
The family sends its deepest thanks to all the dedicated and caring nurses and doctors.
