Bernice Gloria Giroux, beloved wife of Paul Giroux, passed away with her family at her side in Taber on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the age of 66 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Vincent TuanHa, Celebrant. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Besides her loving and devoted husband of forty seven years Paul, she is survived by her four children Paul Giroux Jr. of Calgary and his children Raechel, Travis and Sam; Steph (Darryl) Feininger of Taber and their children Jordan, Nick and Kali; Mark Giroux of Lethbridge and Kathy Giroux (Ken Woo) of Taber and their children Paige and Kinzie. She is also survived by her siblings Darlene (Wayne) Disterheft, Donna Courtoreille, Graham (Ceclia) Courtoreille, Hughie Courtoreille, Shirley (Allen) Higa, Alice (Gerry) Finley, Kenny Courtoreille, Doc (Francine) Courtoreille, Beverly (Steve) Sakal and Walter Courtoreille.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Violet Courtoreille; brothers Johnnie Courtoreille and Dennis Courtoreille; sister Diane Remple.
Bernice was born in Fort Vermilion on November 17, 1946 to John and Violet Courtereille. She married Paul Giroux in Picture Butte on July 16, 1965 and has resided in Taber until the time of her passing. Bernice worked for the Horizon School Division as a teachers assistant for twenty eight years. She also worked at Taber Special Needs. Bernice loved working with children. She had a passion for golf and was a past club champion. Bernice filled their basement with numerous trophies from the tournaments she was in over the years. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
