1922 - 2013
With sadness the family of Alberta Rose Petersen announce her passing in Taber on Saturday, January 5, 2013. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the age of 90 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, January 10, 2013 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. and at the church prior to the funeral service on Friday, January 11, 2013 between 10:00 A.M. and 10:40 A.M.
The Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop Chris Ward conducting. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Rose is survived by two daughters Gayle (Garth) May of Calgary and Denise (Doug) Orr of Spruce Grove and daughter-in-law Anne Petersen-Ebling of Sherwood Park; eleven grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Floyd Pickett, Don (Dorothy) Pickett, Merle (Florence) Pickett and Delbert (Delores) Pickett; her sister Helen Fallon and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Jesse Petersen, son Donald Petersen, parents Fred and Olga Pickett, sister Hazel Pickett, sisters-in-law Dorothy Pickett, Vivian Pickett and brother-in-law Bud Fallon.
Rose was born in Rosemary August 3, 1922. Her passion was her raspberry patch and there was always ice cream, angel food cake and fresh raspberries on the table. Her biggest passion was her home, family and her love for making quilts.
