Rocky’s family and close friends were invited to meet at the Royal Canadian Legion, 217 - 5 Street North, Vauxhall on Saturday, December 22, 2012 between 12:00 P.M. and 2:00 P.M.
Rock is survived by his father Roy Hammergren (Glen Horrocks) of Taber; his brother Wayne Hammergren of Scandia; sister Eunice (Lloyd) Szigli of Taber and their children Shane, Angela and Kyle (Shelly); sister Shauneen (Syl) Carlin of Taber and their children Cory (Rachael) and Kimberly. He is also survived by his great nieces and a great nephew; aunt Norma (Elgin) Grant, uncle Tobey (Esther) Orsten and numerous cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother Thelma Hammergren and his brother Terry Hammergren.
Rock was born in Brooks on June 28, 1957 and raised in Hays. He loved playing hockey and baseball. After finishing school he worked in the oil patch until 1980 when he started farming with his dad Roy, renting the neighbours farm. In 1989 he took over the family farm and continued farming there until his passing. Rock loved farming and all that went with it. He was so happy spending time on the tractor, working with the cows or keeping up the yard and garden. He had great neighbours and friends who were there often to help out and we will forever be thankful for all that they did.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Rocky’s name may be made directly to the charitable cause of one’s personal choice.
