ROSA HOLST
1913 - 2000
Rosa Holst of Taber, beloved wife of the late Peter Holst, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2000 at the age of 87 years.
Rosa was born on September 27, 1913 in Vibank, Saskatchewan, the daughter of Martin and Eva Glas. She married Peter Holst in 1932 and they raised a family of two boys and two girls. They resided on the farm in Hays from 1952 until moving into the Town of Hays in 1974. In 1997 they moved to Taber.
Rosa’s life was dedicated to her family, a love she showed by cooking for them and organizing family functions. Her grandchildren were very special to her and they will always remember the many games of cards they played with her. Church was also a very important part of her life.
She learned to crochet in later life which became one of her passions, as well as cards, flowers and working in her garden. Rosa was well known for the pride she took in her home, yard and personal appearance.
She will be forever remembered by her children Lillian (Ames) Frieburg of Taber, Theresa Stober of Hays and Henry (Pauly) Holst of Vauxhall; daughter-in-law Penny Holst of Hays; tengrandchildren; six great grandchildren; four brothers; one sister and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband Peter Holst, son Kurt Holst, son-in-law Frank Stober, great grandson Daniel, three brothers and three sisters.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 324 - 2 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Sunday, November 26, 2000 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 324 - 2 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Monday, November 27, 2000 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Father Josef Perehubka Celebrant. Burial followed in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
