JOHN HLEUCKA
1920 - 2000
John Hleucka of Vauxhall, passed away in Taber on Sunday, September 24, 2000 at the age of 80 years.
John was born to Alex and Elena Hleucka on January 26, 1920 in Lethbridge. He received some of his schooling there before his folks moved to a farm in Vauxhall in 1928. He then attended North Slope School until he was needed to help on the farm. He enlisted in the Service and was ready to serve overseas when his father became ill and he was called back to tend the farm. John spent his life on the farm and sold it to T.H. Tajiri in 1967. He remained farming there until 1978 when he moved to Vauxhall and worked for the Bow River Irrigation District. Retiring from the B.R.I.D. he enjoyed his spare time playing golf. John and his mom and dad raised and educated his niece (DuWayne Tivadar) and put her through college.
John will be remembered by his brother George (Betty); a sister Anita Hampton and his aunt Minnie Postoloski of Taber as well as numerous nieces and nephews who all loved and respected John.
He was predeceased by his parents Alex and Elena Hleucka; his brothers Nick, Steve and Bill; his sisters Mary, Elsie and Vicky; two nieces Susan Fraser and Karen Atkinson and two nephews Dennis and John Hleucka.
The Funeral Service was held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, September 30, 2000 at 1:00 P.M. with Deacon Mike Whalen officiating.
