CHARLES SZUMLAS
1928 - 2000
Charles Michael Szumlas, beloved husband of Jean Szumlas of Taber, passed away peacefully in Lethbridge on Friday, July 28, 2000 at the age of 72 years.
Charlie was born in Jelisnia, Poland on March 2, 1928. He immigrated to Canada in 1959 and married Jean. Together they settled in Taber and raised their children. Charlie loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He had a passion for fishing, gardening and caring for his pets.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents; his brothers John, Stan and twin brother Frank; a sister-in-law Anna Szumlas; his nephews Henry and Joel Szumlas and his aunt Rosa Klish in Poland.
Besides his loving wife Jean, Charles will be sadly missed by his children Mary Ann and Peter; and his grandchildren Kristen and Scott. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Veronica Szumlas of Taber as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and Poland.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, August 1, 2000 at 7:30 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, August 2, 2000 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Father Jozef Perehubka Celebrant. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
