ANTJE BOERSMA
1912 - 2001
Antje Boersma of Taber, beloved wife of the late Roelof Boersma, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at the age of 89 years.
Antje was born the daughter of Femke and Arien Koen on February 16, 1912 at Andyk, Holland and came to Canada, landing at Halifax in 1953. She married Roelof Boersma on May 26, 1932 and enjoyed 40 years of marriage until he passed away in 1972. Her pride and joy was her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed doing all arts and crafts, knitting and crocheting. She kept a relatively quiet home until she played “Uno” with her family; it was then she would get into the game, laughing and heckling her children. She kept a large strawberry patch which she fondly remembered her grandchildren raiding every so often. She will sadly be missed by all her family.
Antje is survived by her children Johanna de Bruin of Calgary, Hermina (Heimen) den Dekker of Holland, Harry (Maaike) Boersma of Coaldale, Peter (Bernice) Boersma of Bramalea, Ontario and Hessel (Marie) Boersma of Lillooet, B.C.; a daughter-in-law, Sadie Boersma; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and is also survived by brothers and sisters in Holland.
She was predeceased by her husband Roelof and a son Arie.
The Funeral Service was held at the First Christian Reformed Church, 3902 Heritage Drive, Taber on Saturday, November 3, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Mike Vandyk officiating. Burial followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
