MINNIE POSTOLOSKI

1909 - 2001

Veronia “Minnie” Postoloski (nee Yaslovasky), our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at the Taber Continuing Care Facility at the age of 92 years.
Minnie was born in Rohizria, Bokovena, Ukraine, Austrian-Hungarian Empire, on January 26, 1909 the youngest child of Mike and Lena Yaslovasky. Minnie immigrated to Lethbridge in 1924 with her mother and her brother Nick, where they joined her father and other family members who had immigrated before W.W.I. She met and later married Cassian Postoloski on March 7, 1926. They moved to Vauxhall and together raised a family of five children.
She leaves to mourn, her children, Gladys (Pete) Forchuk of Lethbridge, Jean (Milton) Waddle of Taber, Edward (Brenda) Postoloski of Campbell River, B.C., and Kathie (Ron) Friesen of Vauxhall; 16 grandchildren, Peter Forchuk, Jenean Forchuk (deceased), Phil (Barb) Forchuk, Cyril (Marilyn) Forchuk, Eugene Forchuk (deceased), Gregory (Kim) Forchuk, Alexandria Postoloski, Dale (Janice) Waddle, Terry Gene (Connie) Waddle, Neil Edward Waddle, Brian Edward Postoloski, Melanie Lynn May, Tanya Jean Postoloski, Rhonda Friesen (special friend Blayne Kress), Jodi Lee (Bryce) Howg, Tammy Rae Friesen (fiance Scott Virostek); twenty great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren.
A special niece DuWayne (Joe) Tivadar; nephews John (Yvonne) Yaslovasky and George (Betty) Hleucka.
Minnie was predeceased by her parents Mike and Lena Yaslovasky; her husband of forty three years Cassian on August 17, 1969; two sons Alexander Frederick in 1931 and Frederick Alexander in 1975; an infant daughter in 1930; two grandchildren, Jenean Forchuk in 1983 and Eugene Forchuk in 1984; sisters, Lena Hleucka in 1973, Sanchira Paskal in 1979 and Sophia Hlusko in 1978 as well as one sister in the Ukraine.
Minnie was a farm wife and worked hard cooking for threshing crews during the 30’s. Minnie always had a large garden and loved to cook, taking great pride in her cabbage rolls with an extra plate at the table for anyone who dropped in. In 1970, Minnie moved to Taber, and later returned to Vauxhall residing at the Prairie Rose Manor in 1980. She resided there until July of 1998, when she moved to the Clearview Lodge in Taber. She recently took up residence at the Taber Continuing Care Facility. Minnie was a member of TOPS for 18 years, and the Senior Citizens of Vauxhall. She travelled extensively both with TOPS and the Senior Citizens. She enjoyed floor curling and shuffle board until her health problems intervened. She loved to crochet and made many colorful afghans which adorned in her house and those of her loved ones.
Relatives and friends were invited to pay their respects at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, October 21, 2001 from 7:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Monday, October 22, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jim Lochhead of the United Church of Canada officiating. Burial followed in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
