JOSEPH ORBAN
1909 - 2001
In the presence of his family, Joseph Orban Sr., beloved husband of Elizabeth Orban of Taber, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 14, 2001 at the age of 92 years.
Joseph was born at Tiszalok, Hungary on March 14, 1909. He came to Canada in 1929, settling in Saskatchewan. Joseph married Elizabeth Packo at Lestock, Saskatchewan in 1934. While there he worked on a farm and later moved to Ontario where both Joseph and Elizabeth worked in the steel mills. In 1944, they decided to move to Lethbridge where he worked in the coalmines and later moved to Barnwell where he helped farm. Their last move would be to Taber where Joseph and Elizabeth built a home and have resided ever since. For a few years Joseph worked at the Sugar Factory and then went on to work for the Town of Taber which he retired from in 1974. In his retirement he worked along side of his son Joe Jr. at the golf course and at J.C.S.T. Sports. He and Elizabeth were custodians for the Bank of Montreal for a number of years. In spare time he enjoyed to work in his garden. In all of Joseph’s travels and accomplishments, his pride was his family. He was most fond of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and watching them grow.
Besides his loving wife Elizabeth, he will be forever remembered by his son Joe Jr. (Dorothy) Orban of Taber; two grandsons, Chris (Valerie) Orban of Taber and their children Brance, Tayler and Chortney; and Scott (Shelly) Orban of Calgary and their children Blake, Sarah and James.
