RICK DOUGLAS
1945 - 2008
Richard John Douglas, beloved husband of Jane Douglas of Taber, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the age of 62 years.
He leaves behind his loving wife Jane and their daughter Dawn Ohashi (Darry) and her children Jenna and Braden and their Dad Ron all of Taber; a son Troy (Fern) and their children Amanda and Jacob of Tumbler Ridge, B.C.; brothers Terry (Wendy) of Fort McMurray and Larry (Shirley) of Red Deer; his mother-in-law Frieda Miller of Taber as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Bruce Douglas in 1964, his mother and stepfather Helen and WR (Bill) Kirk in 1989 and his father-in-law Fred Miller.
Rick was born April 14, 1945 in Calgary, Alberta and started his life's adventures at the tender age of 16. He worked in the construction field all his life, travelling to many places and making many friends along the way. He met and married Jane in 1966. Together they became avid golfers and loved to curl, finally making their roots in Taber. Rick will be sadly missed by all his family and those who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, January 28, 2008 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Frank Lewis officiating. A private family burial service will follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
