LENA DOLLFUSZ
1919 - 2001
Magdalena (Lena) Therese Dollfusz of Bow Island, beloved wife of Josef Dollfusz, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2001 at the age of 81 years.
Lena was born at Hamburg, Altona, Germany on November 18, 1919. She received her schooling in Germany and married Josef Dollfusz on February 2, 1941 in Hamburg. They resided in Germany moving to Canada in 1956, settling in Nobleford, then to Coaldale and Lethbridge. In the fall of 1959 the family moved to Bow Island where they have resided ever since. Lena was an active member of St. Michael’s parish and the C.W.L. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and travelling and was especially devoted to her family and grandchildren.
Besides her loving husband, Josef, she will be sadly missed by her children Rita (Peter) Speicher of Bow Island, Lothar (Linda) Dollfusz of Fort Saskatchewan, Margrit (Kai) Mortensen of Calgary and Ursula (Murice) Haskill of Bow Island; son-in-law Brandt Thomas of Medicine Hat; 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter Jutta Thomas, son Josef, her parents, 3 brothers and 3 grandchildren in infancy.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at St. Michael’s Catholic Church 1113 - 1 Street East, Bow Island on Monday, August 27, 2001 at 7:30 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 28, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. Burial followed in the Bow Island Cemetery.
