It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ivanka Orzes, beloved wife of Joe Orzes who passed away in Taber on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the age of 61 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Vincent TuanHa Celebrant. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Besides Joe, her husband of forty four years, Ivanka is survived by their daughters and grandchildren, Sandy (Bryan) Szumlas of Calgary and their children Katrina and Justin; Sue (Lee) Weighill of Lethbridge and their children Alexa and Kallen; Diana (Gordon) Zinken of Calgary. She is also survived by her sister Stefica (Stevo) Oreskovic of Croatia; cousin Albert and Josephine Kalvi of Lethbridge and their families; cousin Zlata (and the late Joe) Filkas of Taber and their daughters; Sladjana & Dragan Colic of Vauxhall and their families and the Klemen and DeBona families of Taber.
She was predeceased by her parents Antun and Marica “Roza” Kalvi of Croatia.
Ivanka was born on June 17, 1951 in Gornja Obrijez, Croatia. Joe and Ivanka were married on January 13, 1968. They moved to Canada in 1974 where they settled in Taber and built their life together. Ivanka dedicated her life to helping others. She cared for children, assisted the elderly and volunteered with the Catholic Women’s League. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Ivanka was a devoted wife, mother and Baka who cared and loved her family and friends deeply.
