Annie was born in Gem, Alberta on March 18, 1933. She received her schooling, including Bible school in Gem, earning her Evangelical Teacher’s Training Certificate from Moody Bible Institute. She later graduated from Calgary Business College and worked at various places in Calgary.
On September 27, 1958 she married the love of her life, John Hubert in Calgary. She later worked in Brooks and Bow Island, ending her career as a secretary at Senator Gershaw School, a position that she particularly loved. A place with the energy of youth, lots of laughter and the occasional practical joke.
Upon retirement, she was awarded a lifetime sports pass to events at Gershaw. Wherever she lived, she became involved in her local church and its endeavors, even in this last year, sewing layettes for babies in Haiti. She especially loved her eleven grandchildren and found great joy in travelling to attend their performances, whether on the stage or sports field, distance did not matter.
Annie was always ready for a party, the more the merrier. She loved hosting large family get togethers. This became more difficult after she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1989. She never complained and tried valiantly to not let it define her life. Annie had a great sense of humor, loved life and people, especially her family. She will be greatly missed.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Annie’s name may be made directly to the Gideons International in Canada, Box 3619, 501 Imperial Road North, Guelph, Ontario N1H 7H2.
