Besides his parents Darrell and Willemina Croft and his brother Ian Croft, Liam is survived by his grandmother Thelma Byde-Vaate of Taber. He is also survived by his aunt Janette Maedel, uncles Brian Croft, Doug Croft and their families.
Liam was born in Taber February 21, 1995 and lived in Taber all his life. He attended St. Patrick's School, Central School, D.A. Ferguson Middle School and W.R. Myers High School.
Liam was active in Soccer, being part of the Southern Alberta Summer Games championship team for 14 and under in 2009. He was also an accomplished swimmer. Liam loved school and was fond of all of his teachers. He won numerous academic awards and honors, the most prestigious being the D.A. Ferguson Middle School Steve Lucas Memorial Award in 2007.
Liam was very active in the performing arts. He played in the D.A. Ferguson and W.R. Myers school bands and participated in musical theatre, the highlight of which was playing the lead in The Music Man. He took an interest in woodwork over the last two years, finding another creative activity he loved. Liam was also Vice-President of the W.R. Myers student council this year. Outside of school, he was interested in rocketry, heraldry and all things British.
Liam was hard working, dedicated, energetic and intelligent. He reflected positiveness and beauty that people surrounding him picked up and reflected back. He could make people feel they were valued. He made being uncool or different or even silly "cool”. He shone like a beacon and enriched the lives of all he touched.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Liam’s name may be made directly to W. R. Myers High School, 5511A - 54 Street, Taber, Alberta T1G 1L5. Please designate funds specifically to the Fine Arts Programs.
