1920 - 2012
Joseph Beler, beloved husband of the late Isabel Beler, passed away in Medicine Hat on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the age of 92 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 5:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Vincent TuanHa Celebrant. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Joseph is survived by his children David (Darlene) Beler of Chin, Phyllis Beler (Barry Vandevelde) of Redcliff and Larry Beler of Medicine Hat; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Clara Beler and Lorraine Beler as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Isabel; siblings George (Theresa) Beler, Frank (Amanda) Beler, Bob Beler, John Beler, Katie (Martin) Herbeck, Theresa (Roy) Bauman and Mary (Mike) Silbernagel.
Joseph was born March 21, 1920 in Billimun, Saskatchewan. Following school he enlisted in the Canadian Army and served from 1941 until he was discharged in 1946. Joseph married Isabel Laturnus on June 10, 1946 and they lived in various communities throughout Saskatchewan. In 1953 they moved to Hays where they would reside until they moved to Taber in 1968. Following Isabel’s passing in 1993, Joseph moved to Medicine Hat where he has resided up until the time of his passing. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Joseph enjoyed wood working, gardening and his dog Snoopy. Spending time visiting with company and with his grandchildren was very important to Joseph.
