GEN MARUYAMA

1925 - 2012

On Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the age of 86 years, Genji Maruyama was overcome by cancer and passed away peacefully in Lethbridge after a brief stay at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care.
A private family graveside service was held at the Taber Memorial Garden on Thursday, April 19, 2012.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Marge and beloved children Dean (Lynn) Maruyama of Lethbridge, Rod Maruyama of Vancouver, British Columbia, Colin Maruyama of Lethbridge, Derrick (Deanna) Maruyama of Taber; grandchildren Kimberlee, Jordan, Riley, Meghan, Richelle (Scott) Tucker, Brendan, Ren (Brad) Rabusic and Scott; great grandchildren Brooklynn, Caleb, Seth and Levi Tucker and Nolan Rabusic. Gen is also survived by his sisters Katie Kano, Norma Maruyama, Daisy (Jim) Oshiro; brothers Paul (May), Sat (Shirley) and Wayne (Lorraine); sisters-in-law Ty, Anna Mae and Yas Maruyama as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
He was predeceased by his siblings Tuck, Jack, Jane and Ken Maruyama; brother-in-law Tak Kano.
Gen was born in Fraser Mills, British Columbia on August 25, 1925. He moved to southern Alberta where he married his wife Marge and raised a family on a farm outside of Taber. Gen worked hard and lived a full life sharing his time with family and friends up to his last few days. Gen appreciated visits from family and friends during his stay at the hospital and palliative care.
