Duane was born August 18, 1943 in Taber and grew up on the family farm in Grassy Lake. He worked a number of years with Water Resources which later became SMIRD. He married Lorelei Schlachter November 13, 1965. Although Duane worked a variety of jobs during his younger married years, the majority of his work was related to earth construction. He was a hard, determined worker for his own business as well as a couple private shops and the County of 40 Mile. The last few years of his life in stead of retirement, Duane chose to work alongside his daughter and son-in-law on a daily basis.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, computer time and really enjoyed hands on wood working, creating benches, decorative wagons and even a jewelry box.
Since moving to Lethbridge in 2004, Duane has enjoyed fellowship with his "McNally" group of friends. He faced his cancer battle with great courage and a very positive attitude. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Duane’s name may be made directly to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre, Room 2A101, 960 - 19 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 1W5.
