LAURIE LEFFLER
1934 - 2012
Lawrence (Larry) Leffler, peacefully passed away in Bow Island on the morning of Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the age of 77 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to prayers at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1113 - 1 Street East, Bow Island on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 5:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1113 - 1 Street East, Bow Island, on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Vincent TuanHa Celebrant. Burial to follow at the Bow Island Cemetery.
Laurie is lovingly survived by his three children Lowell (Irene) Leffler of Bow Island and their children Andrea (Colin) Hennel, Dustin (Sarah) Leffler and Courtney Leffler; Wendy (Rick) Thurston of Bow Island and their children Jill (Jeff) Weatherhead, Ryan (Mildred) Thurston and Marty Thurston; Ruby Emshey of Pincher Creek and her children January and Jeff Emshey. Laurie also leaves behind eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Laurie was predeceased by his wife Sabina, on February 10, 2002.
Laurie was born on July 27, 1934 in Runnymede, Saskatchewan. He grew up and worked on the family farm until the time when he moved the family to Grassy Lake. He worked for a number of years with the Water Resources which later became the SMRID. During that time, he decided to go back to SAIT where he earned his ticket as a Diesel Mechanic. He was employed by International Harvester, first in Burdett and then later on in Bow Island. Laurie was then employed with the County of Forty Mile where he eventually retired.
Laurie loved the outdoors. He spent many happy hours fishing at the “Creek” and golfing and camping with Sabina in their motor home at the Indian Hills Golf Course. In his earlier years, he loved to curl and he never lost his love for watching the game on TV.
