John was born in Nicolaifeld, Russia on June 3, 1925. He married Anna Heinrichs in 1950 and they immigrated to Canada in 1952. Although he overcame many hardships and had many trials throughout his life, together with his wife, they raised four daughters and enjoyed many happy years together.
He was well known in the community as Wall’s Blacksmithing and Welding and highly regarded within the farming community. The railings and wrought iron fence he built around the Taber Post Office still stand today as a reminder of the quality of his work. He retired from his business life in 1990. John and Anna traveled extensively (thirteen trips to Hawaii alone). They really enjoyed exploring the islands together. John also enjoyed camping, fishing and his visits with his friends at the local coffee shops in his later years.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in John’s name may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317 - 10 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 2M7.
