TOM BLANCHETTE

1947 - 2012

Joseph Thomas Paul Blanchette, beloved husband of Barb Blanchette of Taber, passed away peacefully in Calgary on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the age of 64 years while undergoing treatment for cancer.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Coast Lethbridge Hotel & Conference Centre (Grand Ballroom), 526 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. A private family burial service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Barbara Blanchette; his four children Chuck (Deborah) Urano of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Neil (Melanie) Urano of Lethbridge, Michelle Urano of Medicine Hat and Scott (Alisha) Urano of Chilliwack, British Columbia as well as eleven beloved grandchildren; his mother Judy Blanchette of Florida and his sister Pauline Parry of Florida.
He was predeceased by his father John Paul Blanchette and his brother-in-law Allan Parry.
Tom was born in the Eastern Townships of Quebec on April 7, 1947. During the time when he was growing up he attended school in several different locations across Canada as the family followed his father who was a pilot with the Armed Forces. Tom attended Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia where he obtained his Chartered Accountant Designation in 1983. He worked with the accounting firm of Thorne Riddell in Ottawa and in Kitchener, Ontario before moving out west to Lethbridge in 1983. Tom opened up his independent accounting practice in Lethbridge in 1985 and has enjoyed many years working with his clients. At the time of Tom’s passing, his practice was located, with his associates, at BVVL Chartered Accountants in Lethbridge. He loved people and took a personal interest in his business. Tom took pride in being able to help his clients, and many of them became lifelong friends.
