SYBIL GOLDTHORPE
1914 - 2011
Sybil Irene Goldthorpe (nee Winchester), beloved wife of the late Thomas Goldthorpe, passed away in Taber on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at the age of 96 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the church prior to the funeral service on Friday, November 4, 2011 between 1:00 P.M. and 1:40 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 54th Street Chapel, 5314 - 54 Street, Taber on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Sybil is survived by her children Alan (Sydony) Goldthorpe of Taber and Beth Martens of Clive; son-in-law Leo Madsen of Cranbrook; daughters-in-law Rana Goldthorpe of Edmonton and Joyce Goldthorpe of Grand Forks, British Columbia; twenty nine grandchildren, sixty great grandchildren and thirty three great great grandchildren; sister Carol Korsa of Wabamun; brother Earl (Doreen) Winchester of Aetna as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Goldthorpe; children Ruth Collier, Ruby Madsen, Glen Goldthorpe and David Goldthorpe; sons-in-law George Martens and Wells Collier; brother-in-law George Korsa; two brothers Dale Winchester and Ronald Winchester; two sisters Cleo Bain and Helen Winkler; sister-in-law Doris Winchester and two brothers-in-law Jim Bain and Bill Winkler.
Sybil was born on December 26, 1914 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Charles and Gertrude (nee Kellogg) Winchester. She married Thomas Goldthorpe on January 23, 1935 and they settled in Taber. Sybil loved sewing and spent many hours doing this. She resided at the Clearview Lodge for a number of years before moving to the Extended Care and eventually Linden View where she resided until the time of her passing.
