MARGARET GILLIES
1910 - 2001
Margaret Gillies, beloved wife of the late Jack Gillies, passed away in Taber on Saturday, June 30, 2001 at the age of 90 years.
Margaret was born on December 18, 1910 in Lethbridge. She later met Jack Gillies and were married in 1932. They resided in Lethbridge for many years before moving to East Coulee near Drumheller where she was employed in various fields of work. Margaret’s family was always important to her and in 1994 she moved to the Fletcher family farm be closer to her daughter, Millie. She enjoyed a healthy, active life and for many years was a member of the Elks and the Legion.
Margaret will be forever remembered and missed by her daughters, Diane (Christopher) Oliver and their family, Pamela Oliver (Joey Vinko), John (Jeannette) Oliver and Jackie (Jim) Baird; daughter, Millie (Alden) Fletcher and their family, Lynn (Terry) Marcellus and Rhonda (Scott) Craig; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters Edna Stitt and Mildred Bogusky as well as numerous nieces nephews and other relatives.
She was predeceased by her husband Jack and a grandson Christopher.
The Funeral Service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, July 5, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim de los Angeles of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church officiating. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
