MILDRED CHRISTIANSEN
1912 - 2004
Mrs. Mildred Lovina Christiansen of Taber, beloved wife of the late Mr. Elmer Christiansen, passed away in Taber on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at the age of 91 years.
Mildred was born on November 9, 1912 at the family farm near Retlaw, the daughter of Melvin and Betty Brooks. Mildred attended Normal School in Calgary and began teaching school in the Lonestar District. On August 29, 1933 in Medicine Hat, Alberta she married Elmer Christiansen. They farmed near Turin for many years. In 1962 she returned to teaching in Barrhill and then Vauxhall before retiring to Taber in 1977. Mildred was a member of the United Church and actively involved with the UCW. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, crocheting and needlepoint.
Mildred will be remembered by her children Stewart (Cheri), Gary (Rita) and Melva (Ken) Osterman; 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren as well as sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was predeceased by her husband Elmer, a son Ronald Elmer; her sisters Gladys and Margaret and brothers Estel, Lloyd and Hubert.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006-48 Ave., Taber on Sunday, October 31 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929-50 Ave., Taber on Monday, November 1, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment will follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
