PHOEBE ODDIE
1903 - 2000
Phoebe Oddie, beloved wife of the late Gordon Oddie, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Sunday, January 2, 2000 at the age of 96 years.
Grandma will be missed and fondly remembered by her loving son Colin and Elsie of Lethbridge; grandchildren Tom (Kathy) Oddie and children John and Matthew of Houston, Texas, Diane (Laurence) Tulloch and children Jamie and Corey of Lethbridge, Joanne (Rick) Flikkema of Drayton Valley and their children Mandy, Jason and Travis of Sylvan Lake, Scott (Jackie) Oddie and children Cassie and Logan of Red Deer; sisters-in-law Isabelle Ferguson and Bessie (Gordon) Schoening and brother-in-law Ronald (Lenora) Oddie all of Pincher Creek and brother-in-law Jim (Kate) Oddie of Abbottsford, British Columbia as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Colin and Hannah Ross, husband Gordon in 1982, sister Flora (Otis) Bowman and brother-in-law Hugh Ferguson.
Phoebe was born September 30, 1903 at Inverness, Scotland and moved to the Grassy Lake area with her family in 1919. She was married to Gordon Oddie in 1932 and moved to Pincher Creek in 1937 where they farmed until moving to Taber in 1959. She moved to Lethbridge in 1994, most recently residing in the Garden View Lodge.
Phoebe was a member of Knox United Church in Taber where she was a long time member of the choir and UCW and more recently a member of McKillop United Church in Lethbridge. She was a dedicated fifty year member of the Order of Eastern Star originally in Castleview Chapter in Pincher Creek and recently in the Maple Leaf Chapter in Lethbridge, where she had many special friends. Phoebe was always willing to help others and kept very active and busy.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, January 6, 2000 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, January 7, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Ken Crassweller officiating. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
