KII MIYANAGA
1913 - 2001
Kii was born in Kagoshima, Japan on September 8, 1913 and passed away in Taber on Monday, April 30, 2001 at the age of 87 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Yoshihiko (Joe) in January, 1994.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter: Tom (Eileen) of Vancouver, Bob (Toshi) of Taber, John (Jean) of Taber and Rose (Gil) Oishi of Edmonton. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Marlene (Dale) Martelli; Greg (Brenda) Miyanaga, Hollis (Todd) Pickerell, Mark (Tamara) Miyanaga; Jay and Jordy Miyanaga; Gerrad (Tracey) Oishi, Tamara (Tim) Brierley; and by ten great-grandchildren: Alannah and Kyra Martelli; Lauren Oishi; Katrina, Tea and Skylar Miyanaga; Beth Miyanaga; Chad, Robin and Jillian Pickerell. Relatives include Tsuyako (Tosh) Iwamoto of Picture Butte and Miyo (Isao) Morinaga of Taber. She is also survived by numerous relatives in Japan.
Mother Miyanaga will always be remembered for her pleasant, supportive disposition and her ability to recognize the good in others. She persevered through difficult times while radiating humility and thankfulness to God for the bounty. To her, the extended family represented the focus of life, and she continually strived to reinforce and acknowledge the meaningfulness of positive relations. She demonstrated continual appreciation for the services provided by others and her astute memory allowed her to be grateful in return.
The family and community have been the fortunate recipients of her goodness and she will be sadly missed.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, May 2, 2001 from 7:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, May 3, 2001 at 2:30 P.M. with Pastor George Takashima officiating. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
