JOHN MALINSKY
1910 - 2001
John Malinsky of Taber, beloved husband of the late May Malinsky passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2001 at the age of 90 years.
John was born in Taber on June 7, 1910 the son of Dimitro “Dan’ and Annie Malinsky and received his schooling in Taber. He married May Christie on January 24, 1940 and they enjoyed fifty eight years of marriage. John became well known as the shop foreman at Perdue Motors until 1960 when he started Taber Auto Electric and worked there until his retirement in 1980. John was involved in many organizations over the years including Lions, Elks, Curling Club, Taber Town Councilman for a total of eleven years and as the longest serving member of the Volunteer Firemen for thirty two years.
John will be forever missed by his children David (Susan) Malinsky of Calgary, Norman Malinsky of Lethbridge, Don (Linda) Malinsky of Taber and Sherry (Earl) Sprague of Edmonton; eight grandchildren Danny Malinsky, Brian Malinsky, Jesse Malinsky, Dillison Malinsky, Nadine Malinsky, Jennifer Malinsky, Christy (Brent Scott) Sprague and T. Jay Sprague; great granddaughter Aspen Sprague; brother Edward Malinsky; sister Helen Malinsky; two sisters-in-law Mary Malinsky and Elaine Malinsky and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; wife May; two younger sisters Mary Crow and Dolly Douglas and four younger brothers Nick, Bill, Alex and George.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, January 19, 2001 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
