PHYLLIS SHATZ

1908 - 1999

Phyllis Shatz of Bow Island, beloved wife of the late Andrew Shatz, was called home to the Lord, on Thursday, October 14, 1999 at the age of 91 years.
Phyllis was born on January 14, 1908 the daughter of Joseph and Barbara Degenstein. As a young girl she immigrated to Canada with her family settling in Southern Alberta. On July 30, 1928 she married Andrew Shatz and they later farmed south of Bow Island before retiring there in 1973.
Phyllis will be remembered by her daughters Lorraine (Cleve) Rea of Edmonton, Marlene (Urban) Pittman of Lethbridge and Helen (Ron) Adams of Bow Island; a son-in-law Harold Burke of Oyen; nineteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren; sister Nellie Shatz of Medicine Hat; two brothers August (Dorothy) Degenstein of Champion and Frank Degenstein of Medicine Hat as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Andrew, Phyllis was predeceased by a daughter Rosella Burke; a grandson Kevin Pittman and four brothers Fred, Gabriel, George and Peter Degenstein.
Relatives and friends were invited for Prayers at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Bow Island, on Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Bow Island on Thursday, October 21, 1999 at 1:30 P.M. with Reverend Dominic Nguyen Celebrant. Interment followed at the Bow Island Cemetery.
