Petronella Maria Bouw of Bow Island, beloved wife of the late John Bouw, passed away in Bow Island on Friday, January 5, 2001 at the age of 91 years.
Petronella was born January 16, 1909 at Lieshout, Netherlands to Albert and Maria Swinkels. She met and married Johannes Antonius Bouw on April 30, 1931 and farmed in Holland. Together with their 10 children they immigrated to Canada in March 1955, residing for a short time in Picture Butte and Lethbridge before homesteading on the farm in Bow Island in 1960. In 1971 they retired to the Town of Bow Island. For the past 8 years she has been a resident at Extended Care in Bow Island where she received excellent care.
She will be forever remembered by her children Maria (John) Bevers of Lethbridge, Alda (Tony) Crooymans of Bow Island, Netta (Peter) Huvenaars of Hays, Mary (Ralph) Witdouck of Lethbridge, Helen de Groot of Taber, Tony (Maria) Bouw of Lethbridge, Albert (Elizabeth) Bouw, Julia (Dennis) Collins and Joe (Maryanne) Bouw all of Bow Island and Nellie Horii of Lethbridge; thirty grandchildren; fifty four great grandchildren; five sisters and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Johannes in 1984; two grandsons Mark Witdouck in 1977 and Neil Van Paassen in 1980; her parents; four brothers and one sister.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet for Prayers at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1113 - 1 Street East, Bow Island on Monday, January 8, 2001 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1113 - 1 Street East, Bow Island on Tuesday, January 9, 2001 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Thomas Vadassery celebrant. Interment followed in the Bow Island Cemetery.
