SHARON KOENEN
1940 - 1999
Sharon Mae Koenen (nee Wurzer) of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Ray Koenen, passed away on Monday, August 30, 1999 at the age of 58 years.
Sharon was born on December 24, 1940 at Lethbridge, the daughter of Herman and Muriel Wurzer. She was raised in Picture Butte where she attended school. After completing high school she trained as a x-ray technician at St. Michael’s School of Nursing and was later employed at the Lethbridge Municipal Hospital. She married Ray Koenen on February 5, 1966. They resided in Coaldale until Ray’s passing in 1993 at which time she moved to Lethbridge. Sharon and Ray enjoyed to travel, socialize, dance and have a good time together. She also enjoyed playing the piano and shared this talent as a volunteer playing at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital. Sharon was very family orientated and the time she spent with her family and grandchildren will be forever cherished.
She will be missed by her daughters Karen (Ron Janos) Koenen of Coalhurst, Kelly (Tim) Shorey of Lethbridge and Kolleen (Duncan) Weir of Toowoomba, QLD, Australia; grandsons Levi and Justice Shorey; brother Keith (Doreen) Wurzer of Calgary and also by many other family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Ray and infant twin sons.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, September 2, 1999 from 8:30 P.M. to 9:30 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1513 - 23 Avenue, Coaldale on Friday, September 3, 1999 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Wayne Poile Celebrant. Interment followed at the Coaldale Cemetery.
