ANNA MACHACEK
1908 - 1999
Anna Machacek of Taber, beloved wife of the late Floyd Machacek, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 21, 1999 at the age of 91 years.
Anna was born at Valaska Senice, Czechoslovakia on March 29, 1908, the daughter of Josef and Teresa Frantis. She came to Canada on November 1, 1929 where she worked for a couple of years as a nanny in the Raymond area. She married Floyd on November 28, 1931 and shortly thereafter they moved to the farm Floyd had purchased near Taber. They remained on the farm for fifty six years retiring to the town of Taber in the fall of 1987, taking up residence at the Clearview Lodge. She had most recently been a resident of Taber Extended Care. During Anna’s time on the farm she raised her family and found time to do embroidery work, baking, gardening and singing. Anna was very family oriented and her faith was most important to her, she was active in her church and the Catholic Women’s League. She was a generous person who often shared her baking with family and friends.
Anna will be lovingly remembered by her five children Joe (Lil) Machacek, Mary Krizan, Al (Jennie) Machacek, Frank (Linda) Machacek and Jerry (Eleanor) Machacek; twenty one grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; three sisters; one brother and one sister-in-law in the Czech Republic.
She was predeceased by her husband Floyd, an infant daughter Lydia, a son-in-law John Krizan as well as two brothers, three sisters, and a grandson.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, July 23, 1999 at 7:30 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, July 24, 1999 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Jim de los Angeles Celebrant. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
