HANS DEDEKAM
1917 - 2002
Hans Dedekam, beloved husband of Phyllis Dedekam of Lethbridge, peacefully passed away in Lethbridge on Sunday, November 3, 2002 at the age of 85 years.
Hans was born in Oslo, Norway on July 31, 1917, a son of André and Louise Dedekam. He attended school in Oslo and received his High School Diploma. Following graduation he enrolled in University in Paris, France. His studies were interrupted by WWII and Hans was called to serve his country as a soldier of the Norwegian Free Forces between 1942 and 1945. He retired from the Forces as a Captain. Upon discharge, Hans returned to University and earned his Degree in Business Administration. He met and later married Phyllis Jespersen in Washington, D.C. on October 20, 1952. Hans began his thirty six year career as an administrator with Scandinavian Airlines and worked in Copenhagen, New York and Montreal before retiring in 1982. Hans will be remembered as a man of “strong character and gentle nature” and is deeply loved by his family in Canada and Norway.
Besides his wife of fifty years, Phyllis, Hans will be forever cherished by his son Hans Eric (Josée) Dedekam and their children, Charles and Elise; a sister-in-law, Marit Dedekam and her four children, Mette, Wenche, Anna-Louise and Anders all of Norway.
He was predeceased by his parents André and Louise Dedekam and a brother, Anders Dedekam.
The Funeral Service was held at Southminster United Church, 1011 - 4 Avenue South, Lethbridge on Thursday, November 7, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Frank Lewis officiating. A private family interment took place at the Taber Memorial Garden on Friday, November 8, 2002.
