CHRISTINA PONTIKES
1924 - 2002
Christina Pontikes of Taber, beloved wife of the late James Pontikes, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2002 at the age of 78 years.
Christina was born on June 23, 1924 at Kastri, Greece to parents Dimitrios and Panagiota Georgoulis. She arrived in Regina, Saskatchewan in June 1954 and in October, 1954 she married James L. Pontikes. Her beloved husband Jim died in March 1966. Christina loved gardening and was an active member of the Greek Orthodox Church.
She is survived by her brother Luis (Hrisoula) Girgulis and sister Effie (Tom) Paikos, sister-in-law Asimo Georgouli numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Christina was predeceased by her parents; husband Jim; four brothers George (Stella), Stilianos (Evangelia), Sarandos, and Byron; two sisters Panagiota (Alkiviadis) Diamantakos and Stamatiki Georgouli.
The Funeral Service was held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, September 9, 2002 at 12:00 Noon with the Very Reverend Dimitrios Rougas of the Greek Orthodox Church, Calgary officiating. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
