MARY HARDING

1928 - 2002

While in the comfort of her home and with her family at her side, Mary Florence (Walters) Harding, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2002 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mary was born on September 9, 1928 and was raised in a small highland village just outside the town of Stornaway on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland. Mary was the oldest girl of five children born in her family. She had many wonderful memories being raised and nurtured by her loving mother and grandparents. Upon completing her schooling, Mary enrolled in nursing. She became a midwife and delivered many, many babies in her 41 years as a nurse. She moved to Canada in 1956 and came to Taber in 1957. Mary met and later married Jesse Harding in 1960. They raised two daughters and had a very happy life. Her loves in life included her family...especially her grandkids, her faith, quilting, sewing, knitting, cooking and doing genealogy.
Mary leaves behind her loving husband Jesse; children Sheila (Brent) Gibson of Taber and Fiona (David) Burdick of Washington, D.C.; her five precious grandchildren Kirsti, Jillian and Hayley Gibson and Scott and Regan Burdick.
She was predeceased by her mother Christina Munro Walters and her four siblings, Alec, Ray, Ralph and Shirley.
Mary touched many lives and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, August 30, 2002 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and again prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday, August 31, 2002 from 12:30 P.M. to 1:40 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. with Bishop Larry Taylor officiating. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
