SID GEERTSMA

1934 - 2011

Sietse Geertsma of Taber, passed away in Calgary on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the age of 77 years.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Hans Visser officiating.
Sid will be remembered by his siblings Henny (Henry) Zanbergen, Ruth (Herman) Stolk, Trinkie (Hank) Vander Heidi, Homer (Teena) Geertsma, Jake (Wendy) Geertsma and Bert (Loretta) Geertsma; two sisters-in-law Catherine Geertsma, Susan Geertsma and numerous nieces and nephews all of Ontario.
He was predeceased by his parents Andries and Wytske Geertsma, two brothers George Geertsma, Jack Geertsma and a sister Hendrikje Geertsma.
Sid was born in Ureterp, Friesland, The Netherlands on January 15, 1934. At the age of eighteen, he immigrated to Canada where he worked for the PFRA in Vauxhall. Sid farmed for many years in Ontario, later moving back to Alberta to work for Sandy Hill Stock Farms before owning a contracting business in Taber. He worked hard all his life, enjoyed the outdoors and was generous in helping others with his time and talents.
