LINDA JONES
1951 - 2002
While in the presence of her family and in the comfort of her home, Linda Ellen Louise Jones peacefully passed away on Monday, June 10, 2002 at the age of 50 years.
Linda Brown was born at Wadena, Saskatchewan on December 5, 1951. She received her school education in the Invermay and Shaunavon, Saskatchewan areas. On the day of April 5, 1968 Linda was united in marriage with Brian Jones at Shaunavon. The young couple took up residence in Gull Lake. Their marriage was blessed with three children: James ‘Jimmy’ was born July 14, 1968; Tammie arrived on March 4, 1971 and Jody joined the team on April 21, 1972. Later that year the family moved from Gull Lake to Taber where Linda saw all three of her children receive their educations. One of Linda’s proudest moments was when she was to be hostess of her youngest son, Jody’s wedding in her home yard in Taber. In these later years it was very evident of the pride and joy that Linda found in her grandchildren. Each and everyone of them brought instant sunshine to Linda’s thoughts and expressions.
Linda held various part-time positions in various occupations, however her main vocation was raising their three children and looking after her home.
As well as her love for her own children and grandchildren, Linda was always generous to the many nieces and nephews that visited her home. Many of this young generation received their first experiences in vehicle operation and/or livestock riding at Brian and Linda’s acreage.
Perhaps her favorite sporting activity was turning sports channels “off” whenever she got the chance. In actuality, Linda followed all the children’s sporting activities including nieces and nephews, from hockey and ball to stock car racing.
She committed herself to her interests in hobbies and crafts by attending numerous night classes. She was obviously a good student as Linda was a very talented lady. Members of the family were always amazed at how she could take thread, needle, cloth, wood, plastic, nail or glue and create an incredible piece of art. When it came to cake decorating, Linda took a backseat to nobody!
Besides her husband Brian, Linda will be forever cherished and remembered by her children and grandchildren, son Jim (Lisa) and their family, Mark and Haley of Brooks; daughter Tammie (Gary) and their family, Lauren and Jordan of Edmonton and son Jody (April) and their family Skyler, Tamara and Tina born on May 18, 2002 of Taber; her brothers and sisters and families, Wayne (Debbie) Brown - Tesha, Jennifer, Tanya, Josh of Kamloops, British Columbia; Donna (Barry) Hilliard - Kenny, Jason and Dale of Edson, Alberta; Brenda Becker - Gail, Chris, Melissa and Roland of Edson; Gerald Becker - Michael and Jonathon of Yorkton, Saskatchewan; Cindy Schawalder - Michael and Dylan of Barnwell; step-father Mickey Shukin of Taber; mother-in-law Verna Jones of Gull Lake; brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrel (Darlene) Jones of Canmore; Linda Bruder - Jean and Stephen of Revelstoke, British Columbia; Wendy (Duane) Shaw - Shawn , Sherri and Sheila of Arthur, Ontario; Charlene (Wayne) Eggen - Ryan, Colin and Landon of Brooks; Tom (Debbie) Jones - Becky, Krista and Reese of Victoria, B.C. and Maureen (Terry) Shepherd - Jennifer and Brayden of Brooks.
