MARTHA HOOGE

1911 - 1999

Martha Hooge of Taber, beloved wife of the late Peter Hooge, passed away on Monday, July 12, 1999 at the age of 87 years.
Martha was born at Wachtebekc, East Flanders, Belgium on December 23, 1911 and was the daughter of Edmund and Emma Helderweirt. She came with her parents as an infant to southern Alberta and received her schooling at Medicine Hat. Martha married Peter Hooge in 1934 and they farmed in the Purple Springs area. He predeceased her in 1957. She continued to reside on the farm moving to Taber in 1964 and since 1995 she has resided at Clearview Lodge.
Martha will be dearly missed by her children and their families, daughter Eileen (Marvin) Gross of Grassy Lake and their children Kevin (Lori) Gross of Grassy Lake and Shanon (Ronald) Simon of Medicine Hat; son Peter (Mary) Hooge of Taber and their children Keith (Susan) Hooge of Purple Springs, Carol Hooge of Taber, Janet (Kendall) Vayro of Taber and Pauline Hooge (John) Hymanyk of Vancouver; son Edward (Betty Ann) Hooge of Red Deer and their children Karen (Philip) Marose of Red Deer, Duane Hooge of Vancouver, Dana (Greg) Symes of Red Deer and Brian (Nancy) Hooge of Red Deer; eleven great grandchildren; three brothers Morris Helderweirt of Drumheller, Alfred (Isabel) Helderweirt of Trochu and Arthur (Pat) Helderweirt of Calgary and also by two sisters-in-law Kay Hooge of Brandon, Manitoba and Sarah Hooge of Lethbridge.
She was predeceased by her sister Mary; parents Edmund and Emma Helderweirt; five brothers-in-law Henry, George, Jake, Walter and Herman and one sister-in-law Erna.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, July 15 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Ken Crassweller officiating. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
If friends so desire, memorial donations in Martha’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
