EDITH WALLWORK
1911 - 2002
Edith Wallwork of Taber, beloved wife of the Late John ‘Jack’ Wallwork, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2002 at the age of 90 years.
Edith was born in Dundee, Scotland on November 14, 1911, a daughter of John and Martha McKinnon. She recieved her schooling at the Muirhead School and then completed high school at the Harris Academy in Scotland. She immigrated with her parents to Canada in 1926, arriving in Montreal and then went by train to Moose Jaw, where they first settled. She gained employment with Eaton’s and worked there for the next twelve years. She met John Wallwork while he was posted at Mossbank, Saskatchewan and later married him in September of 1942. In 1968 they moved to the Vauxhall area where they purchased farm land and farmed for the next 20 years. They retired to Taber in 1989. Over and throughout the years Edith travelled extensively and had journeys which took her all over Canada, Europe and the United Kingdom
Edith will be remembered by a sister, Mattie ‘Marje’ Martin; two brothers, Ken (Phyllis) McKinnon and Jim (Mary) McKinnon as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Edith was predeceased by her husband John; two sisters, Margaret McKinnon and Winnifred ‘Winny’ Dann and a brother, Jack McKinnon.
The Funeral Service was held at St. Theodore’s Anglican Church , Taber on Monday, May 13, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dale Lang officiating. Pallbearers were Braden Engel, Justin Engel, Francis Jansen, Tony Jansen, Bob King-Hunter and Jim Martin. Interment took place at the Taber Memorial Garden.
