GERALD CULVER
1935 - 2008
Gerald Delbert Culver of Retlaw, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the age of 73 years.
Uncle Gerald was born in Retlaw, Alberta and remained in the area until his passing. He farmed the original homestead which was first purchased in 1908, as well as land he added over the years. His love of the land was evident to all and caring for it his top priority.
He was predeceased by his wife Autie; his parents Charlie and Hazel; brothers Ross and Joe; sister Virginia Holoboff and nephew William Holoboff.
Gerald is survived by his step-son Shane (Suzanne) Bowden and also lovingly remembered and highly respected by his many nieces and nephews; Myrna Brady, Alberta Schneider, Ron Culver, Sherry Schulz, Wayne Culver, Ken Culver, Linda Andruschak, Dianne Secrist, Jim Culver, Joanne Olson, Terry Franz, Jack Culver, Jerry Culver, Rocky Culver, Samantha Colmer, Ronda Culver and Tracey Culver.
Being the last of his generation he went out of his way to ensure Christmas Eve was for family and was open to all who chose to gather at the Retlaw Hall.
A public viewing and an opportunity to meet with Gerald’s family will take place at the Vauxhall Legion Hall, 217 - 5 Street N., Vauxhall on Thursday, July 31, 2008 between 7:00 and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Retlaw Union/United Church, Retlaw on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. with Ray Speaker officiating. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
